At the beginning of the year, my students and I talk a lot about SLANT.
S - sit up
L - listen
A - ask and answer questions
N - nod
T - track the speaker
After we've talked and discussed at length, students have an opportunity to work in partners to all create a "cheat sheet" for the front of their binders.
Next to the the letter, they write the key word (listed above). Next, they illustrate a student following that expectation. Then, on the lines, they write why it is important to show that behavior.
This can be a general expectation in your classroom, for student projects and presentations, or any other use you think it would help!
