Back to school literacy centers
Six literacy center activities (with worksheets) to help you plan your first few weeks of school. All activities are in color and black and white.
These three phonological awareness center activities will be a fun way for your young students hear the parts of words and isolate the beginning and ending parts of words. These center activities are completed with picture cards (no letters or words). They are simply listening for sounds in words (pictures).
Concept Sort – Let your little ones decide what items can be found at school and what items are not found at school.
Letter Matching - This activity allows students to analyze the shapes and forms of letters. There is no letter identification involved. Students will match letters found in school words that are supported with pictures.
My School Emergent Reader and Pocket Chart Cards (black and white and color versions) - Helping your students see themselves as readers is an important step in the reading process. This emergent reader will enable them to do just that. The high frequency word repeated in this emergent reader is my. Limited words on each page with high levels of picture support help your young readers to be successful. Also included are pocket chart cards with the words and pictures from the book. Your students will have fun reading and working at the pocket chart center with this activity.
All activities use the same school pictures and words.
