Students can read this Back to School book individually, or as a class! This could be used in small group activity, or in a literature center! Each Back to School book(4 differentiated books total) is 12 pages in length, including a cover page. There are 24 Back to School Vocabulary cards in total. Laminate and hang cards around the classroom. Then, have students practice writing the words using the recording sheets included.

Also included in the Back to School packet, an original counting and subtracting activity. This Back to School Subtracting & Adding activity is an active learning activity so students can actually feed an owl(or teacher) school supply manipulatives. Whole Group Activity "Do you like peanut butter & jelly?" Distribute answer sheets, collect data, then discuss results and have students graph the data and complete their favorite recipe sheet.
pages 178-189 Alphabet Matching Literacy Center
Place cards in pocket chart, then have students match the letters (uppercase and lowercase are both included).Students can record their letter matches onto the corresponding recording sheet.
pages 190-204 Back to School Activities
I have included a variety of activities to use during the first weeks of school:
-Classroom Treasure Hunt- students search the classroom for supplies, checking each item off as they find it.
-Classroom Map- students create a map of the classroom.
All About Me Bags- students draw a portrait of themselves onto their bags then take the bag home and fill them with items that describe who they are. Finally, have students “show and tell” their items.
Find a Friend- great icebreaker activity! Students circulate the classroom and meet new friends.
Classroom Trail Mix- Make a classroom trail mix with your students. Then, scoop a cup of the trail mix per student. Once students have their trail mix, they can complete the graph. Recipe and Snack bag labels included.
pages 205-216 Back to School Ten Frames
Have students count the correct number on the ten frames then match it to the correct number word or numeral. Numbers 1-12 are provided. Finally, students can complete the ten frame pages included.
