Make teaching Back to School expectations more exciting for your students by having them act as detectives as they search for clues to the types of “model behaviors” you wish to see in your students this year. Behaviors include, I use good manners, I am kind and helpful to others, I raise my hand before I speak, I follow directions quickly, etc......16 different behaviors to pick from.
Simply cut out and laminate the clue cards and place them around your class. Students have to find the QR codes and with a device that can read QR codes (iPod Touch, iPad, tablet, or laptop with a camera) record the answers. Once students have found all the “model behaviors”, you can have a class discussion about class expectations. I have also included a follow up or additional activity for students to illustrate the behaviors. This could then be used as a great class display for reminding students about class expectations. I have included 16 different expectations for you to pick from or you could also have students find all 16 and then vote as a class on which ones you feel are the most important ones to follow in your classroom this year.
Please make sure you have a device (iPod, iPod Touch, iPad, Smart Phone, Tablet etc.) that can scan QR codes before making a purchase. Free QR code readers can be downloaded on to your devices. Further explanation of how to use QR codes is included in this unit.
Included in this unit are the following:
16 QR code clue detective sheets
3 different recording sheets (one with 16 numbered lines, one with no numbers and one with primary handwriting lines)
1 Poster that reads, “We are Model Students” for your bulletin board or wall display
1 sheet for illustrating one or a couple of the model behaviors.
I have also included a sheet with behavior spelled as behaviour for those who prefer this spelling.
