As teachers, we all know that planning for the beginning and the end of school can both be rather challenging. The first and last weeks are full of testing, and we need one-on-one and small group time with students. While we need our kids to work independently, we want to make sure that they’re engaged in fun projects.
Students also need choice. That's where this product will help you get through those tough few weeks.
At beginning of school, set out the back-to-school writing prompt task cards. Have students choose as many as you wish them to complete. Once they finish the pre-determined number of prompts, have them publish their work by stapling their
essays in a construction paper cover. You will want to keep these either on display or in your cabinets.
At the end of school, give them the summer version of the same prompts. Have them complete their choice of prompts and compare their answers with the book from the beginning of the year. Have them write how and why they’ve changed and/or stayed the same in their responses.
Happy teaching, and happy planning. Have a great year!
