PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

We at Two Thumbs Up wanted to start at Teachers Pay Teachers with this handout.

Inside, you will find a comprehensive, yet simple and concise coverage of the following topics:

Page 1 - Multiplication Facts, Tips and Tricks
Page 2 - Properties of Multiplication
Page 3 - Division Facts, Tips and Tricks
Page 4 - Printable Notebook Paper Sheet for Note-taking

Page 1 covers the basic terminologies involved in the arithmetic operation, multiplication. Your students will be introduced to Multiplier, Multiplicand and Product. They will also meet Factor and Multiple. To understand multiplication, this page also points out that multiplication and repeated addition works hand in hand. Counting with their fingers is not mentioned, don't worry!

On Page 2 is a big table containing the definition of the Multiplication Properties. A simple example for each is also provided, with figures to help the students recognize the patterns suggested by these properties. Doing so will help them master multiplication, and at the very least, solve these equations faster.

Lastly, on Page 3, are the basics of division. Introductions are made to Divisor, Dividend and Quotient, and his relative, Remainder. While there may be classes who will focus on exact division, we decided to introduce Remainder this early to help students realize that the answer to division problems is sometimes, if not often, not exact. To give them a better perspective of division, we illustrate the process using repeated subtraction. As with multiplication, we didn't encourage them ticking their fingers off to get the quotient! :)

This handout works well printed on color or in grayscale and can be taken home by your students, their parents or simply used by you as a teaching aid. We'd love to hear how it goes.
