School Supply Problems: Multiplying by Tens
Have students practice multiplying by tens (example: 50 x 10,000) with this fun back to school math game! Students attempt to fill up their book bag with the school supplies they need from their supply list before any other player. It's great in math centers, with partners, or for a group of up to four students. Students answer a game card with a math equation on it. If they get it correct, they close their eyes and take a school supply out of the shopping cart. The school supply may be something they need or it not help them at all! It's all about the luck of the draw and that's what makes the game so exciting! The first person to find all items on their supply list wins!
Football: Let’s Tackle Rounding
Students answer football themed questions where they round numbers within 10 million to any digit. They may be rounding to the nearest ten, hundred, thousand, ten thousand, hundred thousand or million. They get to move the football towards the touchdown line each time they get an answer correct. Whoever gets the most touchdowns by the end of the game wins! There are chance cards included to spice the game up by changing game play or helping out each team.
Needy Teachers: Division Equations
Each teacher needs a different quotient (answer to a division equation). The students have to sort the equations as quickly as possible to the the "needy teachers." Students have to use their knowledge of division facts from third grade to play this game.
Line Them Up: Expanded Form
Students have to line up the cards in the correct order while practicing putting large numbers between 100,000 and 1 million in expanded form. There are TWO sets included so two teams can race against each other to see who wins. The nice thing about this game is that it's self checking; if students put the cards in the wrong order, they'll be able to tell at the end.
Pencil Confusion: Comparing Large #s
Students put the correct kid in the middle of two numbers based on the symbol they are holding! Students practice comparing numbers up to 10 million using the greater than, less than, or equal to symbols.
Whiteboard Whiz: Multi-Digit Addition and Subtraction
There are 24 whiteboard whiz task cards included that involved multi-digit addition and subtraction for fourth graders. The kids race to see who can be a whiteboard whiz and solve the most cards by the end of the game. You could also adapt this game to be a SCOOT or whole group game as well.
QR Codes: Back to School Multiplication Facts
There are 3 QR Code games included where students solve multiplication facts. Each time a student solves a card, they scan the QR code and write down the corresponding letter on the mystery phrase page. Whenever they've solved all the cards, they mystery phrase is revealed!
Crazy School Supplies: Rounding
The teacher sees school supplies for sale for RIDICULOUS prices! Help her tell her friends how much each one costs by estimating each one to the nearest thousand!
The Great Bus Race: Multiplying/Dividing by the Power of Ten
In this game, students race as buses through the game board to be the first person to the finish. Each time they solve an question (example: how many times larger is 40,000 than 400?), they get to spin the wheel and move forward on the game board. Cute buses are included as game pieces to move through the game.
Library Troubles: Place Value: Word Form
Students have to figure out which books go together based on place value and how to write a large number in word form. In this game, students have to match up the correct library books and race their partner to see who can get the most numbers matched up with their word form.
