How to Treat Classroom Books (34 pages)

Mr. Wiggle's Book, by Paula Craig and Carol Thompson, is the perfect book to teach students how to treat books in the classroom. Students fall in love with Mr. Wiggles and they enjoy making him happy by reading books correctly. The book is not included.

Students will learn how to treat books and will make a bookmark as a reminder. They also can write a letter to Mr. Wiggles telling him all the ways they respect their books.

Making New Friends- Writing a Complete Sentence (13 pages)

The book Bear's New Friend, by Karma Wilson, is a great example of how students can make new friends! Through this lesson plan, students will discuss how they can have new friends. Also, students will work on writing a complete sentence. Students will learn some of the response strategies that will be used throughout the year.

Scrambled Sentences-Back to School
These scrambled sentences are a great way for students to practice word order and sentence structure. There are eight sentences per topic and the topics are recess, classroom rules, working together, and reading. The writing pages are included with different line sizes.

Students will be asked to place the word cards in the correct order and then write the sentence correctly. I have students write four sentences each day.

I also included the student directions and instructions for setting up these activities.

To provide differentiation, there are eight simple sentences provided with 2-3 words in each sentence.

Back to School Worksheets
This packet contains 33 pages of fun back to school activities and no prep! Just print and go.

Students will have fun coloring a picture on the first day of school and coloring the same one on the last day! Have a folder for each student and keep adding things to it throughout the year. Let students decorate the front of their folder and then you can send it home at the end of the year with all their memories!

Worksheets Included:
• (2) First/Last Day Coloring Pages
• (1) All About Me- Fun way to get to know students. Have them fill it out and take turns presenting to the class.
• (5) Label the picture- Students will cut out the words and paste them next to the picture.
• (6) Following Directions- Students will color the pictures based on directions given. They will color based on ordinal position.
• (3) Number Writing Practice- Students will count the number of objects in the box and then practice writing the number.
• (1) Color Even and Odd- Students will color the bubbles based on if the number is even or odd.
• (3) Skip Count and Color- Students will skip count by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s and color the correct bubbles.
• (2) Color the Vowels and Consonants- Students will color the bubbles based on if the letter is a vowel or consonant.
• (2) Color the Capitals and Lowercase
• (5) Handwriting Practice
• (1) Beginning Sound- Students will look at the first picture and then pick the picture that has the same beginning sound.
• (2) Rhyming Words

Back to School Writing Prompts
This packet contains 30 back to school writing prompts. Students will have fun telling about themselves and drawing pictures to match their sentences!
