Picture me in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Grade: A great first day of school activity!
Copy enough templates on card stock so each child can pick one that suits his/her personality or style.
Have each child decorate their person with crayons or markers.
Run off the “Picture Me” frames so that there is enough for each child. Have each child fill out the appropriate form for their grade level.
Hot glue a clothespin with a foam decoration and/or child’s name. Attach the foam Letter or decoration ( I usually use the a glittery first letter of their name) to the clothespin for display. Then hang up the people outside your classroom. ( you can also have a small group share, whole group share, partner share or circulate a private teacher share before hanging up the people).
One idea that I have used is to have partners share their pages and person then share out one thing they learned about their partner in a whole group setting. After have the class share some facts they learned about their classmates!
Keep these on a bulletin Board or in the hallway to display children’s work all year long. All you have to do is change out the sheet in the clothespin.
The kiddos have enjoyed this project for many years and it is always a big hit with parents on Back to School Night or Open House! You can use it as a guessing game for parents to pick out which is their child and cover their name or initial on the clothespin with a sticky!
