Looking for a way to start off the year and get those minds THINKING again? Need a quick review of addition and subtraction in real-world situations?
These word problem task cards include 20 problems that will help your students practice solving word problems involving addition and/or subtraction. The first 16 cards can be solved using only one step; the last 4 cards are “challenge” cards that may need multiple steps to solve. All of the cards focus on adding and subtracting within 100.
They have a back to school theme, but could easily be used at other times during the year as well!
They are common core aligned with 2nd grade standard: CCSS.2.OA.A.1 “Use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one- and two-step word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.” They would also be a great review for new third graders!
