This resource offers engaging literacy centers for your little learners to practice beginning blends and digraphs. This packet contains 5 Write the Room activities. There are 12 cards in each set. Each card has a picture, the corresponding word with the beginning blend or digraph letters missing, and an image of a kid with a pencil. There is a recording page with matching graphics for each of the 5 activities. An answer key is included. These activities are great for back to school or at any time during the year.
Print, laminate, and cut out the cards. Make copies of the recording pages.
Hang the cards in various places around the room. Give learners a clipboard, a recording page, and a pencil. Learners go around the room looking for the picture cards. When they find a card, they write the word for the picture on the card in the correct space on their recording page.
Helpful tip: To save paper and keep your copy count low, you may opt to have your learners record their responses in journals instead of using the recording pages.
These activities support ELA Common Core Standards for Print Concepts, Phonics and Word Recognition, Conventions of Standard English When Writing, and Vocabulary Acquisition and Use.
