This breakout box activity is designed to be used in Spanish classrooms at the beginning of the year. It is an excellent way to promote collaboration among your students and to give them a real reason to learn Spanish in an engaging way! This is a great back to school activity that promotes team building, culture and more!
It can be done in any level classroom and it is in English (with a few Spanish words throughout) as the focus is team building and exploration.
Teachers will need 5 locks (4-digit lock, 3-digit lock, word lock, directional, key lock), a hasp, a black light flashlight, a BreakoutEDU box or something similar for each group of students. Teachers will also need an invisible pen.
Note that you can do this activity even if you don't have physical breakout boxes! Just have students show you the codes as they are ready for the next puzzle.
This breakout activity includes:
-Instructions and tips on how to set up a breakout activity
-A description of the situation and plan to give students purpose for the activity
-6 activities focusing on team building, Spanish-speaking countries and flags, Spanish speakers in the U.S. and around the world, the cultural iceberg and the 5Cs from ACTFL.
