I have been using Responsive Classroom components in my classroom for quite a few years now and have come to really find the merits of following The First Six Weeks by Paula Denton and Roxann Kriete as a model when creating a classroom community. This bundle has taken some of the key components and turned them into printable activities to guide you as you are taking those important first steps to establishing an atmosphere of respect, risk taking and acceptance. Included in this packet:
-Four page teaching guide detailing ideas for implementing each activity in your classroom as well as possible extensions for future enrichment
-First day student created scavenger hunt with reflection piece
-Reading, Math, and Writing interest inventories
- A spin on the Me in a Bag back to school homework project
-Hopes and Dreams for the year reflection piece
-Creating the Classroom Rules activity
-Reflection cards to trigger discussion and analysis of what is working and what still needs improvement in building a community
-Role Playing Cards to put a visual to following classroom rules as well as what good decision making looks like
