In this Back to School Bundle, you will receive THREE resources that are FUN and will also get your students to speak Spanish within the first week of school!
With this Summer Summary Icebreaker, students will have a chance to reflect on what they did this summer (Preterit review), have conversations with other students about their summer, and then summarize with a writing activity.
In this download you will receive FIVE worksheets for students to complete both individually and with a classmate or small group. Your students will complete interactive conversations with a classmate and then reflect on what they learned in a writing assignment that also serves as a formative assessment for you!
I have also included teacher directions, so you know exactly what to do and can just click print, copy a class set, and get going!
This activity is perfect for an Intermediate level Spanish class as some knowledge of the preterit tense is required. It is a perfect activity to complete within the first week of school as you are getting to know your students and encouraging them to use their Spanish in your classroom!
I have included two writing assignments-an alternative version you can use in various class levels.
In this "Dicebreaker" you receive SIX activities for students to facilitate conversations in Spanish.
First, assign students partners or small groups. Each group of students will need dice to begin having a conversation. They will first roll their dice, see what number they get and then use the questions or prompts to talk to one another in the target language. They will then move to another partner, group and roll again. There are six activity sheets so that you can circulate six sheets in one large class (for many different conversations), use the activity three different times (in pairs) or use the activity six different times (can be a quick warm up or closure activity!)-there are many possibilities!
In this download you will also receive a summary sheet for students to fill out at the end, asking them to list five things they learned about other students and reflecting on which question they enjoyed the most.
In addition, you will receive a student self-reflection sheet. This will allow students to self-reflect on which question was challenging to them and which question was easy. This information will be great for you to collect and have as a measurement of where you students are in the beginning of the year!
This activity is a PDF Slideshow where students will indicate their preferences by simply moving to the left or right side of your classroom. There are 21 "¿cuál prefieres?" questions for your students to answer. These questions can lead to great conversation while creating no pressure conversations. Students love this activity because they get to move around the classroom and they do not feel pressured to use their Spanish or talk to someone they do not know. It is a great First Day of School activity because students are not put on the spot and do not feel uncomfortable speaking in front of a new class.
This download also includes a follow up activity where students write down what they learned about their classmates based on preferences discussed in class. It is a great way for you to measure your students' abilities on the first day of school!
I have also included detailed instructions for the teacher as well as an instruction slide for students so all you have to do it project this on your board on the first day of school (no prep necessary!).
