Description

If you are looking to build classroom community in an engaging (and delicious) way, you will love this simple analogy that encourages persistence and understanding. Students will love the connection to how all students "POP at their own pace" when learning new material. Your back to school plans just got easier... start filling in those first week activities now. All you need is some "campfire popcorn" (you know, the kind that puffs up into a silver-domed spectacle) and a hot plate. You can also use a microwavable popcorn or a personal popcorn maker if you have access to one. Choose whatever works for you!

Pair the student writing activity with the printable bulletin board kit as a reminder of the rich conversation that comes from this demonstration.
