This Colored Pencils Sight Word Spelling resource would make the best Back to School Literacy Center Activity! My kids are always wanting to use colored pencils for everything! I use this resource year round and you could too!
This resource focuses on all 40 Dolch Pre-Primer sight words: a, and, away, big, blue, can, come, down, find, for, funny, go, help, here, I, in, is, it, jump, little, look, make, me, my, not, one, play, red, run, said, see, the, three, to, two, up, we, where, yellow, you.
Learning to spell sight words is an important skill young learners need to succeed in both reading, writing, and language. Sometimes learning to spell sight words, can also encourage a student to learn the sight word faster and retain it for a longer period of time.
Students choose a colored pencil box. Read the sight word on the box. Find the colored pencils with the correct letters and place them in the colored pencil box to spell the sight word.
You could set up this activity in your back to school literacy center, morning literacy tub, sight word/reading center, as a class activity, extra practice, review activity, reading intervention, homeschool, etc. You could also store this activity inside of a real colored pencil box from the dollar store!
