Get your students engaged on the first day, and find out a little more about their expectations and goals for the year with this Back to School First Day Apples Craftivity.

There are 6 different panels for each apple – each panel has a different question to answer. On this UPPER GRADE version of the craftivity, there is ample space for the students to write well-formed answers to the questions given.

This resource contains options for two different sizes of apples – one on full sheets (great for display in a larger area), and one on half sheets (great for smaller display areas and saving paper). To save on ink, print the style that fits the needs of your students (or print both and let your students choose). Students will finish the panel and color each panel (6 pages in total) before cutting out each apple and assembling the finished apples (assembly instructions on next page).

I have also included a template without a question – you can add your own question, or have students come up with their own prompt. There is also a completely blank template. You could also use the blank template as a cover page in case you want to assemble your apples into a book format, rather than a 3D craftivity.

Completed apples are a fabulous way to decorate your classroom during back to school week and beginning of the year open houses, and then can be sent home for the parents to display.

You have three different options for printing (you want your apples to be sturdy enough to stand on their own):

- Print on white construction paper

- Print on cardstock (this is what I do)

- Print on regular paper, then glue onto construction paper and cut out around the apple shape.

For easier completion, be sure students complete each page

BEFORE they assemble (cut and glue) the apple.

This resource is included in my Holiday Craftivity Bundle which contains 10 different holiday themed craftivities to take you through the entire year.
