"You're going to hear us ROAR in the Twenty..One...Four!!!" This is such a fun alternative to typical Back to School Projects. In this craftivity, students analyze the popular pop song, "Eye of the Tiger," by Katy Perry as well as set their own goals for the upcoming 2014 school year.
Students will ask what it means to:
Have the eye of the Tiger
Roar louder than a lion
Float like a butterfly & Sting like a bee
Rock the boat
In this document, I have included the circles you will need for tracing the head and ears and the booklet pages for analyzing the song. You will need colored construction paper, black markers (for creating the faces), glue, and scissors!
I first created this with a New Year's Theme but have made slight changes in order to use it as a Back to School project for my 4th graders! :)
Here are what buyers said about the project as a New Year's Theme:
"My students loved this. My administrator came in while we were doing this and she loved it as well. We had a blast listening to the song and analyzing the lyrics too! Thank you so much."
"Absolutely love this resource! Very fun and creative! "

This activity was, by far, one of my all time favorites! It was so fun to analyze such a popular song with the students. It was also a ton of fun to watch the students personalize their lions. I never realized how crafty some of my students are and how NOT crafty some of them are! :) There were many "Ah-Ha!" moments while analyzing the song along with a LOT of laugher while creating the craft.
