This back to school unit includes four math, reading, and writing craftivities your students will have fun creating, reading and writing about.
~Numbers and Me:
Comes with 1 boy, 1 girl 1 blank face template and math printable.
~The Big Orange Splot:
Great story to read at the beginning of the year to promote individuality and self-expression. Students love to see each other’s finished houses.
Have students design their own house like Mr. Plumbean and the neighbors did in the story. Here are some examples.
(Copy template on white construction paper).
Students will create a bio-poem using the templates provided.
Two different craftivities choices:
Have students write the bio-poem on the glasses template. Mount glasses on white construction paper. Have students draw their faces around the glasses. This creates such an adorable bulletin board!
Have students write the bio-poem on the writing template provided. Take pictures of students, print, cut (face only), and glue picture onto the face templates provided. Use the same hands template provided for the “Numbers and Me” craftivity.
Templates include: Sunglasses writing template, 2 boy, 2 girl 1 blank face template to choose from. (Print pictures as 5X7)
~All About Me Lap Book:
Get to know your students by having them complete this “All About Me” lap book. Great way to get to know each other and a great keepsake for both student and parents. You can create a bulletin board with the completed projects or display them for Back to School Night! At our school, we usually have a Parent Information Night so I’m going to place them on my student’s desks and have my parents look around to find their child’s lap book! This will also be their folder to put all the handouts they will be given. This can also be used for star student!
2 boy, 2 girl 1 blank face template to choose from.
Extension: Have students present their completed lap books to the class!
