Product Description
Breakouts are a wonderful way to start the year. They are naturally engaging since they revolve around a problem for students to solve. This is a great way to foster growth mindset since even high students will not know the answer right away. They will need to work together to solve the puzzles. Students will think you are such a fun teacher for providing this interactive activity.

In this breakout, students will solve a series of clues in order to unlock code combinations on Google Forms.

Clue 1: Growth Mindset
-Students answer scenario questions about what to do in certain circumstances. They will use this to solve a creative thinking puzzle.

Clue 2: Class Rules
I used common rules that most classrooms have:
1. Follow directions quickly
2. Respect your classmates and your teacher
3. Raise your hand for permission to speak.
4. Make smart choices.
5. Keep your hands and feet to yourself

Clue 3: About Our Classroom (Rules)
There is a grid with true/false statements. Students will use the emoji code to answer a question about the rules.

Clue 4: Entering the Classroom Procedure
There is a hidden clue in the directions. The directions are for students to enter the classroom and say hi to the teacher, hang up their bag, get right to work, and ask 3 peers for help first before asking the teacher.

The clues are non-worksheets. The clues include a cipher, maze, and hidden messages and clues.

Since this breakout includes putting in codes on Google Forms, students should have access to at least one electronic device. If you don't have electronics, all of the papers can be printed out. You could have the students write what they think the lock is. They can ask you if they're correct or if they need to keep trying.
