I created these lessons to teach students about the concept of social thinking and to understand that there are expected and unexpected behaviours in the classroom. Children come to see that their actions make the people around them feel a certain way, which in turn has either negative or positive results for them.
These lessons go with the book "You are a Social Detective" by Michelle Garcia Winner and Pamela Crooke, but YOU DO NOT NEED THE BOOK FOR THESE LESSONS TO BE EFFECTIVE!
- 3 lesson plans (portions walk you through the book, but the activities can be done without having read the book)
- 35+ expected/unexpected classroom behaviour cards to sort and display
- bulletin board ideas
- sample anchor charts
- handouts for students to show their understanding
- note to send home to parents explaining social thinking
