The Back to School Figurative Language Task Cards are aligned with Common Core Standards. As a language arts teacher, I often teach about figurative language in the context of reading and writing. I use the Back to School Figurative Language Task Cards to provide an opportunity for introduction and/or review.
Each card has a sentence using figurative language and three answer choices for students to consider. Use the Figurative Language Task Cards as a center station, for an introductory activity to your daily class, for whole-class instruction, for a partner review activity, etc.
There are 28 cards, a definition of terms page, two answer documents, an answer key,
and a “What Does It All Mean” interactive finale page. For your convenience, I’ve included two blank card pages and a black line version. To ensure the longevity of the cards, glue them to tag board or construction paper and laminate them.
