Back to School Fix-It ~ an editing activity

Back to school time is here! I use this type of activity often in my second grade class. Sometimes I make it a center for students to work during Daily 5 Word Work. Other times, I use the activity with the whole class at once.

There are 6 sentences included in this activity. Students read each sentence card and look for the mistakes. The number at the end of the sentences tells how many errors the sentence has. After locating the mistakes, students write the sentence correctly on the recording sheet.

Skills practiced with this “Fix-It” include:
- homophones and other multiple meaning words
- pronouns, irregular past tense verbs, plural and adverbs
- capitalization and punctuation
- commas in a list
- spelling

There are 2 different sets of sentences so you can differentiate based on your student's needs.
