Flipping over back to school! This flip book is the perfect tool to use for the first day of school. Place this book on the desks of each student. Allow students to write in them as a type of bellwork assignment. This will give you plenty of time to take care of first-day housekeeping tasks. This book will also give you a quick assessment of how your incoming students can follow directions, write a sentence, read simple sentences and words, and help you to get to know your children!
Here is what is included:
* Favorites Section- this section allows students to tell about some of their favorite things. You can also allow students to share with teams or partners to encourage teambuilding.
* All About Me- this section really allows you to get a quick peak into who your students really are, as well as help you determine who can write a complete sentence and form letters correctly and neatly.
* Goals- this section should be done as a class, as SMART goals can be difficult for primary students. Each section of the SMART goal is explained in language that younger students can understand.
* KWL for School- What do your students already know about school or learning, what do they want to know, and then what have they learned about you or your routines after the first couple of days.
*Routines- this section allows your students to express understanding of what is expected of them in your classroom. This section is a perfect formative assessment on routines, procedures, and sentence and letter formation.
This book can be used for home-schoolers as well. You may know the answers to most of the first few questions! However, it is great to set new goals, start setting up routines for the new year and so forth.
THIS BOOK WAS WRITTEN WITH SECOND GRADERS IN MIND. It can be used with younger students with accommodations.
