This back to school group game will get your kids communicating with each other on the first day of school. Copy the sea life pictures onto heavier paper or card stock and cut out. Attach a paper clip to each figure. Make a fishing pole by attaching a magnet to a string and tying the string around a dowel or a yardstick. Spread the figures out in a small pool or place inside a hula hoop. Have students sit in a circle around the game and try to catch a sea creature with the magnetic fishing pole. After catching a figure, read the question or topic out loud. The student responds to the question and passes the figure to the next person. The student who is holding the sea creature figure gets to speak. He/she passes it along until everyone has responded.
This set contains the revised sea life creatures and the previous set. Use the set that you like the best! You can easily make a "fishing pole" as mentioned above or simply have students grab a fish or sea creature.
