Back to School Game: Scattergories-
Have you ever played the board game Scattergories? This fun and thought-provoking game will get students (or staff) talking in no time and is a great back to school activity. Whether you plan on using it as an ice breaker or as a team competition, it should be fun!
You don’t need any special materials or the original game to play. (If you do have the original game, you can use the letter cube that it comes with, but it’s not necessary). I follow the same rules as the original game, except I encourage students to work in groups so that they can learn from each other. All you have to do is choose a letter as the beginning letter for each descriptive word. This also works well as a literacy center once students know how to play.
Included are directions for teachers and for students and a game card/board that can be copied for each group. I hope this helps you get your year off to a great start. Enjoy!
