Back to school geography, map skills and fun will all happen with this exciting project that starts when school begins and continues throughout the year! Your students will make Travel Log booklets and send them to a friend or relative in another state or country. They will be asked to fill out the "Fun Facts" sheet, and mail a postcard to your student. Then they in turn will send the Travel Log on its way to another destination of their choosing. Your students' Travel Log will arrive in six different locations before being returned by the end of the school year. Classes can track the progress of their Travel Logs on US and world maps. A Teacher Tip page outlines how to use the pages in the packet, and how to carry out the project. There are both black and white covers included for teacher choice, as well as a parent letter explaining the Travel Log project.
This great project can lead to other extension activities, including map skills, writing, research, geography studies, etc. Your students will love tracking the journey their Travel Log takes all year!
