Product Description
An easy-to-implement, challenging, and fun "Get to Know Me" writing activity for your middle school students! Students will compose a short, personal narrative about the origin and meaning of their names and how that impacts who they are. Using figurative language devices, leads in narrative writing, and peer editing throughout the process, the final writing results will be something your students are proud to share!

INCLUDED IN THIS RESOURCE:
- Instructions for Use
- Figurative Language Brochure: (*Please Note: If you have our Sample Lesson Plans or Poetry Research Project, you already have this brochure) - brochure includes an original poem written by EB Academic Camps
- Sample Brochure with answer key for six figurative language devices (simile, metaphor, personification, hyperbole, alliteration, idiom)
- Get to Know Me Graphic Organizer: students begin organizing information about the history of their names and how it has influenced who they are
- Leads in Narrative Writing: students familiarize themselves with six common leads used in narrative writing - we've included examples of strong and weak leads. Students also practice writing two different leads to get them thinking about how they will begin their own narratives.
- Narrative Writing Peer Editing: A generic narrative writing peer editing document that could be used for other narratives as well!
- Paper for Final Draft
- Rubric & EDITABLE Rubric: You will need PowerPoint in order to open and edit the editable rubric.
- Bulletin Board Letters: Two letters per 8.5 x 11 computer paper. They are much bigger than the picture on our cover shows!
