The banner is the culmination of activities that focus on building confidence in one's self and in others. Self-confidence makes goal setting a success!
I like to begin the year using some of my favorite read aloud books. One book that I love is called Ish by Peter H. Reynolds.
Ish is about a little boy named Ramon. Ramon loves to draw, but gives up after his brother makes a comment about his drawings. An encounter with his sister, Marisol, changes everything.
If you have the book, Ish, these activities would go perfectly with it.
If you don’t have the book, don’t worry! These activities could be used with other read aloud books that show the themes of perseverance or believing in yourself. Or you can use them as stand alone activities. It’s completely up to you!
In this pack, I’ve included smaller versions of the activities for students to work on in their notebooks. This is perfect for those of us who are implementing Interactive Notebooks. It’s a great way to help students practice the routines of cutting, gluing, and using markers.
