I’m always trying to find new ways for my students to think and write about their goals for the new school year. I also like for what they write to be fun and easily displayed. So, this year I plan to use emojis to help my students formulate their goals! Kids love them and they’ll be cute when displayed in the hallway.
I’ll begin the lesson with a discussion of what goals are and how important it is to set goals that are personal and achievable.
I’ve included two different formats for kids to write their goals. One format includes the instructions. The other format includes a space for the students to write why they chose the emoji they picked to describe their goals.
I’ve also included 8 different emojis for students to choose from. They are in color and in black and white. Depending on your situation, you can have students color the emoji they choose and cut it out or you could print them in color.
This is a versatile lesson that can be adapted for 3rd - 8th (or even higher) grades.
I believe goal setting is an important skill and the beginning of the school year is a perfect time to review this with your students. This product will make it fun for students to write about their goals and give you a nice back-to-school hallway display!
