This packet contains the following:
~ graphs for students to make with data about your class, both labeled
and unlabeled (Older students will benefit from learning
how to label the graphs themselves).
~data analysis sheets for students to make observations and to learn basic data terminology.
Ideas and Directions:
~Make a "Class Data Booklet" for each person in the class to create his or her own graphs and analyze the data. Pick which pages you would like to include in the data book.
~ Make a graph a day to open math time.
~For students just learning about graphs, make a large, poster sized graph to match each graph you are planning on using. As you are modeling how to make the graph, students can make the graphs themselves.
~For older students, make poster-sized line plots for each graph and have students convert the information to bar graphs.
~add data terms to your word wall.
~Make a "data glossary" anchor chart for class reference.
