In Back to School - Hot Air Balloon, by the2teachers, you will receive one back to school year craft and get to know you activity.
**UPDATE AS OF 8/9/15: As per a customer's request, we have updated this product to now include a hot air balloon with a basket that is empty AND a hot air balloon with a basket with three children (boys and girls). Please note that there is not an individual balloon with just a male figure. The option to have students without what looked like winter hats has been included in the product. ** This product now contains 26 pages.
HOW DO I USE THIS PRODUCT?
Copy the balloon pages for each student. Students color the cover page - anyway they want. On the Portrait page, students will color the balloon and add a self-portrait to the circle. On the All About Me page, students either answer questions to share personal information or younger students can use that page to practice name writing. Once all of the pages are complete, cut them out, fold them in half lengthwise and glue the three pages together to make a three-dimensional hot air balloon. Hole punch the top of the three sections and string with yarn or ribbon. Hang the hot air balloon from a clothesline or from ceiling hooks.
WHEN SHOULD I USE THIS PRODUCT?
This craft can be completed anytime you would like. However, it does make a great Back To School activity. We like to complete it during the first day or two of school. We have the students share the projects with one another as a way to get to know one another. We hang them as a display to instantly liven up the classroom with student work. We keep them up for Back To School Night for parents to view.
WHAT ELSE SHOULD I KNOW?
Also included in this product are block letters spelling "SOARING INTO _ GRADE". There are numbers/letters for "K", "1ST", "2ND", "3RD", "4TH", "5TH", and "6TH". Each letter/number is approximately 1/4 of a piece of standard paper.
Decide if your students can do the All About Me page or if they would benefit from the alternative page for practice name writing. You only need to copy one of those pages - a total of three pages per student. Also, consider the stamina of your students. Doing all three pages at the same time might be too much for younger students. You might want to space out completing each page at different times throughout the day.
