I have been using interactive notebooks for a few years now in my Science Classroom and the most important part of getting started with Interactive Science Notebooks is making sure that the students understand your expectations about how the notebooks should be set up and what should be included where. This resource helps you to introduce the left side, which includes the objective for the day, a brief science starter question or two to be answered as a Do Now or Bell ringer and space for student reflection upon lesson completion, as well as the the right side, as the place where teacher input is given. It includes a slide show to introduce interactive notebooks as well as handouts for the About the Author page, Table of Contents, Science Safety Rules and Science Lab Roles. There is an Interactive Notebook Quiz and template to be written on as needed. Also included is a sign to make a visual display for the students so that they have a daily reminder to "Be a Science Starter Everyday," not just during Back to School.
