This resource was designed for use in a middle school science classroom. Students are introduced to the metric system in a way that makes sense to them- by relating it to what they already know.
There are 4 pages of notes. There is a short homework research assignment included (it takes about 10-20 minutes, depending on the student.) Students are introduced to base units, prefixes, and gain understanding as to WHY the metric system is easier than the English system.
Three student lab sheets are included for metric length, mass, and volume activites. Directions are also included for a fun metric game designed to help students gain confidence and practice with the metric system. Metric conversions are not included in this packet. All pages are available in the preview, check it out!
If you're also teaching conversions, check out my Metric System Conversions
