Full unit includes:
3 books for 2 weeks of setting whole group work expectations for Readers' and Writers' Workshop. Introduce Character Traits, Point of View, and Changes over time, Author's Craft, Author's Message/ Lesson, Writing Narrative and Opinion pieces, Vocabulary Study, Compare/ Contrast

Students will refer to the deep conversations and big ideas later in the year that we had in the first two weeks from the bigger mini unit...
Included in this full unit are conversation frames to support discussion, vocabulary, purpose statements aligned to 1st grade CCSS:
Using key details to describe story elements, to cite evidence, retell details, find central message/ lesson, feelings (CCSS RL1.1-1.6)
Using illustrations to describe story elements (RL1.7)
Compare/ contrast adventures/ experiences of the same characters across several texts (RL1.9)
Use as mentor text for opinion and narrative writing prompts (CCSS W1.1, 1.3)
Use for oral study of syllables, phonemes, grammar (CCSS RF1.1, 1.2, 1.3)
...lesson plans for each book with suggested before, during, and after teaching points, charting ideas, and a suggested schedule.
BONUS IDEA: Use conversation frames as writing prompts or exit tickets!
