This product is designed to target the ability to determine a main idea, as well as details in a story, and to sequence steps in the correct order. This material includes eight 6-step stories.
To prepare: Print and cut apart all story cards. Laminate for durability, if desired. Mix up story cards, but keep the sets together. (In other words, scatter the swing cards, but don’t mix the swing cards with the painting cards.)
To use: Have students read through a full set of cards and determine the one card that reflects the main idea of the passage. Then, starting with the main idea, students must put the story together by sequencing the steps in the correct order.
*Some stories include words such as “first”, “next”, “last”, but others do not.
