The beginning of the school year is a great time to talk about students’ hopes and dreams for the year. As a little spin on that, discuss with students ways they can “make their mark” in a positive way during the upcoming year. You can make an anchor chart to list ideas they come up with as well. Then each student can decide how they want to make their mark – sort of like their hopes and dreams for the year.
* 4 versions of the marker craft where students write how they will "make their mark" - print on colored paper or on white and have them color parts of the marker -***Note: there are three parts to each marker that have to be glued together, so they are rather large***
* letters for a bulletin board that says "Making Our Mark!"
* a marker to write each students' name on and post on the bulletin board for back to school night or the first day of school until students are able to make their craft.
