This resource contains several back-to-school activities for 4th graders at the beginning of the year. The standards and skills that are required for these activities are from 3rd grade in order to refresh their memories of what they learned last year. This is also a way that you can pre-assess their mastery of these skills in order to determine if review is necessary before beginning the 4th grade standards.

Find the Unknown: Students find the value of the unknown number. CCSS – 3.OA.4

What Time Is It?: Students tell time to the minute given a clock. CCSS – 3.MD.1

Graphing: Students create a bar and picture graph for a given set of data. They also create their own tally chart to make a bar and picture graph for. CCSS – 3.MD.3

Fraction Line Plot: Students complete a line plot with a given set of data and must answer questions about the data. CCSS – 4.MD.4

Calculating Costs: Students record the costs of furniture and supplies and add them to get a total. CCSS 3.NBT.2

Word Problems: Students complete word problems using addition and subtraction. CCSS – 3.NBT.2

Fraction Line Plot: Students put fractions on a number line. CCSS – 3.NF.2

Measuring: Students measure objects to the nearest inch. CCSS – 3.MD.4

Task Card Set: Students use task cards to compare two fractions with the same numerator or denominator (3.NF.3d), round to the nearest 10 or 100 (3.NBT.1), and write an equivalent fraction. (3.NF.3b)
