Description

Get to know your students' interests and math skills with this back to school math project. Students select 5-8 activities they completed on a typical summer day. They represent the time spent on each activity as a fraction of a day. Then they convert between fractions, decimals, percents, and central angles; construct a circle graph; and exhibit their creativity and effort. For the final product, students create a circle graph that is incorporated into a drawing displaying a hobby, interest, or activity they enjoy. The project can be easily differentiated for various grade levels and ability levels by selecting hours at various intervals.
