Welcome Back to School All!
This engaging, CCSS aligned back to school project is a great way to get to know your students, and immediately have parent involvement in your classroom learning!
In class, you will share a reading of The Name Jar by Yangsook Choi. After the reading, students will reflect on the text and think about their own names. They will then go home and interview their family members to find out more about how and why their names were chosen for them. Kids get a kick out of interviewing their parents, and they learn so much about their names.
From their research and interview, students can write personal narratives using the information they discovered.
