A fun activity for the whole class to use at the beginning of the year OR during your transportation unit!

Gives students a fun, new way to view a graph!
Directions for the activity:
1. Discuss the meaning of "transportation."
2. Give each student a "link" to write their name on. There are lined links and there are blank ones. You could also print them in different colors for each type of transportation.
3. Attach each transportation card to a board or wall. Staple the first link to the card. Pull each link after that through the prior link before stapling/taping to make a chain. Each student will attach their link to the appropriate chain that describes their means of transportation to school. Discuss which has the most, least, same, etc.
4. To extend the activity, I've added a bar graph that students can fill out afterwards using the paper chain graph to help!
