Back to School Partner Activity : Skit with Reading and Writing
For back to school, try this fun Partner Skit to get your year off to a great start. We are all looking for activities at the start of the school year to get our new students' attention, help the kids get to know each other, and get learning off to a great start. I came up with this little activity in order to do just that. Students will need to do a little bit of reading and writing to complete this activity.

This little skit is 1 page long. Each student has approximately 8 speaking parts, which makes this perfect for a one day 'get to know you' reading lesson. The topic of this skit is 'Back to School, and it provides multiple places for students to fill in blanks giving information about themselves. This will help build community in the classroom as you get to know your students and have a little fun at the same time.
Once given the skits and matched up with a partner, the two students will work together to decide who is student 1 and 2, and then they will work together to fill in the blanks on the skit.
A few of the topics they will fill in information on are: name, age, number of siblings, what they like to do for fun, how they feel about the school year, number of pets and how they feel about pets, what they did over the summer, and more.
If your students are like mine, they will look forward to the skits being recited by their friends and new classmates. I'm sure they will get a few laughs, too.
This activity provides for: Building literacy skills, fluency, cooperative learning, filling in parts of speech to create complete sentences, speaking in front of peers, and so much more.
