Description

Primary source analysis (mostly visual but also some written).

A really great group activity for history students at the beginning of the year. Better than a regular icebreaker, this activity gets students to work together as detectives to try and figure out what is going on in the historical photo / primary source.

Some are serious, most slides are very funny (Bonnacon slides) and it always gets students laughing together and it surprises them that history can be funny. Really good at getting the students to think like historians, and analyze images (and one written source) for information.

Topics within the activity go from Ancient Egypt to modern history (Gaza slides).

Each slide with a photo has the unlabeled photo, then the labeled photo will come over the other upon click after students brainstorm.

Works best when students are set up in Kagan groups. Feel free to contact me with any issues,
