Build comprehension with 4 nonfiction reading passages about educational topics that feature one page of informational text and one page of multiple-choice questions with 3 answer choices. Topics include the invention of crayons, animal intelligence, education in colonial times, and personality types. Great for back to school reading!
The thumbnails and preview show the text and question format. The questions cover a variety of reading skills and are modeled after the types of questions on standardized reading tests. I have 32 years of experience in preparing students for standardized reading testing and in studying these types of tests.

Crayon Creation has a reading level in the upper 4th grade range. Education Evolution is in the lower 5th grade range. Critter Comprehension is in the upper 5th grade range. Personality Power is in the lower 6th grade range. I would recommend that 3rd and some 4th grade teachers plan on doing these orally with students while modeling good reading strategies. Most 5th and 6th graders who are already familiar with this type of testing format should be able to complete these independently.
As an added critical thinking BONUS, have students explain why they think the title of each reading passage was chosen.
I’d appreciate your purchase, your rating, and your feedback.
