Make reviewing common protocols and themes with going back to school engaging and multi-purposeful!
7 text structures are introduced as concepts to review back to school ideas! Get students using these structures with visuals and graphic organizers in real life examples that apply to them before diving into these as structures that can be found in text later in the school year.
7 structures include:
Compare and Contrast
(Students compare things like summer and fall, guest teachers and normal teacher, reading at school and reading at home)
(Students describe common school nouns)
Main Idea and Details
(Students name details that support ideas such as homework, bullying, and what it means to be a good classmate)
(Students put important routines such as the morning routine, bathroom routine, and lining up in sequential order)
Problem and Solution
(Students match common classroom problems such as broken pencils, friend conflicts, forgotten homework with their solution)
Question and Answer
(Students discover answers to common classroom questions like when to use the restroom and where the nearest drinking fountain is)
Cause and Effect
(Students connect how one cause [often a choice of theirs or action] to possible effects such as helping a friend pick up their things, and being distracted during reading time)
Worried that my examples won't match yours?? Of course they all won't! Editable versions are included so you may showcase protocols, routines, and concepts that pertain to your classroom or school expectations.
