If you have difficulty grouping your students for intervention at the beginning of the year, here's a tool for you! Group your students in an orderly and scientific way and help focus your intervention efforts with this easy-to-use Individual Student Reading Placement Sheet. This quick method identifies students and their levels of progress based on their scores on the ACT Aspire from the previous school year.
I teach 6th grade so the one shown here is for 6th grade (using 5th grade results), but could be easily adapted for any grade level. Just enter the benchmarks for your grade level and your students' scores, and you will be able to group your students for intervention at the very beginning of the school year. This is also useful when you have a student transfer from another school and you're not sure which group he/she should be placed in. I've seen similar RTI scheduling sheets, but this could also be adapted for small group instruction in math.
