Product Description

This informal screening tool is useful for screening three areas: articulation, semantics, and grammar. Use it to assist with beginning of year speech and language screenings or ones that may pop up throughout the year, as well as progress monitoring. It features stimulus pages in both color and black-ink only, so it’s easy for students to participate but also easy on your printer! Also included is a Boom cards version, perfect for distance learning! Scoring sheets are also included, with plenty of space for note taking.

~Articulation: All English consonants are screened, including vocalic /r/ and blends in al word positions. B&W - pages 3-7; Color - pages 14-18

~Semantics: basic concepts, categories, sequencing, comparing, contrasting, and object functions. Part 1: B&W - pages 8-10; Color - pages 19-21; Part 2: B&W - page 11; Color - page 22

~Grammar: helping verbs, past and present verb tenses, pronouns, and regular & irregular plurals. B&W - pages 12-13; Color - pages 22-23

Boom Cards: The entire screener is available as a Boom deck. Access it on page 29.

Would be appropriate for Pre-k through 3rd grade.

You can choose to print a new copy for every use or laminate one copy for students to view and use the scoring sheets to record the student's answer. You can administer the entire screening or bits and pieces as you see fit. The choice is yours!

***This screener does not include a pass/fail criterion or a number to determine when to refer for further evaluation. That determination is up to the clinical discretion of the therapist. It depends on many factors, including age, type of error, and comorbidities. This resource is intended to give qualitative data when screening, rather than quantitative. Clinicians should use all available data to determine need for further evaluation.
