Inside this Back to School Student Inventories pack you’ll find 4 pages to give to your students during the first week of school that will help you get to know their academic interests a little more. These pages are perfect for the beginning of the year!
Here are some ideas on how to use each page:
Interest Inventory – Find out which subjects interest your students and which subjects your they may struggle with. Your students will also list their strengths and weaknesses on the page. As a teacher, this will help you quickly asses the students in your class and get a feel for their learning attitudes.
Reading Survey – Get to know the readers in your classroom. Do they have a lot of reading experience or very limited reading experience? Find out which topics your students like to read about. Also, you can find out something they do well at as a reader and one thing they want to improve on.
Handwriting Sample – Use this to see how well students write in print and cursive. Copy this page on 3 different colored pages and give at the beginning of the year, the middle of the year, and the end of the year to track progress. I bet you and your students will notice a big difference in improvement throughout the year!
3 Things I Want My Teacher to Know – Let your students tell you 3 things about them that you might not otherwise know about them. They can be academic or personal. Hopefully you’ll get to know some facts that will be super helpful as you get to know each student and the personalities they bring to your class.
