Instead of having students complete the same old "About Me" on the first day, try having them complete this Communication Survey! Students will love answering the questions and then reading their results. Plus, you can chart the results in Excel to use throughout the year to help you organize groups (perfect for differentiation!).
The quiz was created by researchers at Eastern Washington University but I have reformatted it and altered questions to make it simple and streamlined for students.
I also included two different ways for your to keep the results. Either have students complete other learning inventories and use the "Student Profile Sheet," or have student complete an inventory that forces them to take an in-depth look on their own learning.
