If there is one thing that I learned was very important at the very beginning of the school year, it was creating a "community" inside of the classroom. They may not be "family" but it sure feels like it after several months together in the classroom...so, why wait to learn more about each other?
This is a scavenger hunt to help the kids get to know each other better and "break the ice!" You do not need anything except the "grid" in this packet...NO SPECIAL ITEMS NEEDED!
The students walk around on your direction to find people who fit the descriptions on the grid. Those students sign their name in the square with something that describes them, and then the student continues on to see if they can fill all of the squares!
I have a follow up activity/discussion for the class included as well!
I hope you enjoy this fun "ice breaker" to get to know your students better! If you have any questions, concerns or ideas for custom work, please contact me! Thanks and stop by again soon!
Be sure to check out my Back To School Parent/Student Information Forms
to get the year started right.
Also this Who Am I? Activity
is great for a "getting to know you" game the first week. Students can fill out their form and decorate, guess who is who, and then you can hang these for your open house or parent conferences!
